Course Structure
Course Duration
20 x 1-hour lessons across the academic year
- Designed to bridge performance and theory through a focused, year-long program centred on listening analysis
- Supports students in mastering the skills required to succeed in both SACs and the final written exam
- While deepening their musical interpretation and critical thinking
Phase 1: SAC Preparation
15 Fortnightly Lessons (Terms 1–3)
- Aligned with SAC assessment schedule
- Focus on listening analysis, terminology, and written response techniques
- Step-by-step support to prepare students for SACs with guided practice and feedback
- Emphasis on analysing own and others' performances, articulating musical choices
Phase 2: Final Written Exam Support
5 Weekly Lessons (Term 4 pre-exam period)
- Intensive revision and exam strategy workshops
- Regular timed practice with Section A & B exam-style questions
- Deepening understanding of stylistic features, historical context, and listening comparison
- Individualised feedback to strengthen written expression and analytical clarity
- Mock exam arrangement, supporting students with confidence for the final written exam in Nov.
